AIS - Aquatic Invasive Species
A Curlyleaf pondweed delineation survey was completed on April 2026 in Cedar Lake in Rice County, Minnesota for the Cedar Lake Association. A total of 494 sites were sampled with a double-sided rake. For every species sampled, an abundance rating was assigned based on how much was sampled on the rake.
Historical Weed Cutting & AIS Treatments
Weed cutting and chemical lake treatments have been performed since 1997 in an attempt to control and mitigate the AIS (Aquatic Invasive Species/weeds) in Cedar Lake. Since 2010, the lake has been on the State of MN's 303(d) list of impaired waters. While weed cutting and AIS treatments can provide short term fixes, they do not solve the long term goal of improving the overall lake quality. Below are the historical maps showing the small amount of acreage that has been treated over the years.
